MORGANTOWN, Wisconsin (WBOY) — The West Virginia University School of Medicine hosted the first Pediatrics Day for community members and children on Saturday, Walk with the Doctor of the Future.
of Walk with a Future Doc event takes place every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month At the pavilion in Star City. WVU School of Medicine officials added that he took a 20-minute walk on the Caperton Rail Trail, followed by games, healthy snacks and many other fun family activities. These officials said the aim was to get people out of their homes and to actively participate in healthy lifestyle teachings.
“On these walks, of course, we encourage activity with the community. We want the community here to connect not only with doctors, but also with medical students and other health professionals. You can ask questions about anything, especially healthy lifestyles,” says Treah Haggerty, family physician and assistant professor of family medicine at West Virginia University.
Doctors also say they strive to set an example of a positive, healthy environment for family and community members.
