A woman is criticizing her local Pilates studio, and the Pilates industry as a whole, for charging too much for classes.
“Pilates pricing feels so out of hand right now,” TikToker CeCe (@morececee) wrote in the caption of the three-and-a-half minute video.
In this clip, CeCe opens up about her dissatisfaction with Pilates studios.
“We actually charge $45 to $42 for just one class,” she said, blinking in disbelief. “I don’t want comments like, ‘If you don’t have money, say so,'” the TikToker added. “There’s a difference between spending money on yourself and spending frivolous amounts of money.”
CeCe went on to say that while she loves Pilates, the fees studios charge are making the workouts inaccessible to her and many others.
TikTokers claim to have found studios that charge between $35 and $38 per class, even though they have studio memberships. “Let me show you the price,” she said. “This is terrible.”
CeCe continues with a green screen image showing the prices of the studio’s various membership tiers.
The studio’s drop-in classes cost $42, and CeCe adds, “If you don’t take them within six months, they expire.”
She pointed out that the next tier ($200 for five classes) would be a discount of about $2 per class, and the next tier after that ($380 for 10 classes) would be $38 per class.
CeCe reviews different monthly membership options for this particular Pilates studio. A customer with a $140 monthly membership can come to the studio four times. Now, just to be clear, he only bought eight reformers, because they Because that’s all you could buy. [the classes] All are filled. So now you have to decide on a schedule and make it work [to] Please join the class. ”
On top of that, CeCe points out that if you miss a class, you’ll end up paying $140 for just three classes a month.
TikTokers are also looking at other membership options and pointing out the seemingly high pricing.

CeCe’s video received 804,000 views in just 24 hours after being published on the social media platform. Many viewers resonated with her post.
“I’d love it if someone said that. Memberships used to be $60 to $80 a month. Yoga and Pilates studios have pulled out. [of] Control! ” one viewer wrote.
“At $42 a class, you better go home with a six-pack,” joked another.
“And the classes are all like 10am or 1pm,” said a third, pointing out the added inconvenience of working out at a Pilates studio.
“I loved dddd Pilates but had to stop because it got too expensive…and now I’m fat again but not poor,” another shared.
Many commenters suggested online training options, with one person sharing, “No, I’ll stay on my mat in my living room and work out with Nicole on YouTube TV.”
Another enterprising Pilates enthusiast says, “I bought a reformer on Alibaba and had a retired Pilates instructor teach me how to use it over five sessions. It has now paid for itself.”
