Dr. William B. Fuqua, known to friends and family as Bill, Daddy, or Daddy. He was born on October 6, 1934 in Birmingham, Alabama. He is the marching band clarinet. He attended the University of Alabama, William of El Paso, Texas, where he did an internship at Beaumont General Hospital, and attended medical school as a resident at Letterman General Hospital in San Francisco, California. COL Fuqua served in the U.S. Army for 14 years, received his Bronze Star in Vietnam, and served as Chief of Pathology at Letterman General Hospital in Germany and San Francisco. After his last stint as a pathology consultant at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in 1994, he retired from the Army Reserve and joined Pontiac General Hospital in 1995 after his 20-year career in the pathology department. I retired.
At Pontiac General Hospital, he served as Chief of Medical Staff and Chair of the Medical Education Board. He is a member of the Oakland County Medical Association Commission, the Great Lakes Quality Assurance Commission, and has served on the OHEP Commission for fifteen years and three years as President. He attended the clinical departments of the University of Oakland and Wayne State University and was a faculty member of the American Association of Pathologists Inspector Training Program.
He and his wife, Bertha, have retired to Cape Cod and opened the Four Porches bed and breakfast in Brewster, Massachusetts. They also served as a host couple for Educational Opportunities, a Christian travel organization. They served in Israel, Austria and Germany.
After the death of his beloved wife in 2005, Bill continued his love of education, serving as a lecturer at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, teaching museum visitors and his 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren about the world. encouraged me to learn more. around them. Bill attended his OLLI class at Florida State University for many years and was a lifelong learner.
He was kind, funny, and full of grace motivated by love and faith in Christ.
Bill was predeceased by his wife Bertha and son Bradley Fuqua. He is survived by his daughters, Reverend Betsy Ouellet (David Gilden) of Tallahassee, Florida, Patti Wilson (Bill) of Boca Raton, Florida, and Martha Lemondes (John) of Jamesville, New York. Papa will be missed by his 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and thousands of friends and family around the world.
In lieu of flowers, a keepsake can be sent to the Good Samaritan United Methodist Church in Tallahassee, Florida or the Northside United Methodist Church in Brewster, Massachusetts.
