“Popping pimples in the center of the face is especially dangerous. The area of the face from the bridge of the nose to the corner of the mouth has veins that connect directly to the brain via blood vessels called the cavernous sinuses,” he said. Ta.

Strom explains that trauma to the skin in this critical area can introduce “foci of infection into the bloodstream.”

This infection can travel directly to the brain, causing infection and, in rare cases, death.

How does that happen? Popping a pimple opens the wound, which can be infected by dirt on your hands or airborne bacteria. The veins then form blood clots to contain the infection, which puts pressure on the brain and can cause partial or complete paralysis and, in some cases, death.

It’s best to leave tooth extraction to a professional to avoid not only the risk of death and staph infection, but also the risk of scarring and worsening the breakout.

Following Strom’s advice, skin expert Zoe Devine previously told the Post: Redness and inflammation may worsen.

“Pressing on an inflamed lesion can rupture the follicle walls beneath the skin, allowing acne-causing bacteria to spread, resulting in worsening of the acne or the development of more acne nearby. If inflammation worsens as a result of pressure trauma, the risk of scarring may increase.
