2024 CrossFit Games Europe Semi-Final Winners and Qualifiers: Laura Horvath and Lazar Dukic Reign Supreme

2023 Fittest Woman on Earth, Laura Holbert, proved she’s still at the top of her game against some of the best athletes at the 2024 CrossFit Games European Semi-Finals in Decines-Charpieu, France. .

Horvath dominated the third day and cruised to victory, finishing the day’s events in first, second and second place. She defeated last year’s European semi-final winner, Gabi Migala of Poland.

Not to be outdone, Serbia’s biggest CrossFit star Lazar Jukic (who was tied with Jele Hoste in points at the end of the second day) showed off three more consistent performances to pull away from Hoste. This ensured the overall victory.

Third place went to Sweden’s Emma Tolle and Finland’s Henrik Haapalainen.

Laura Horvath started the day with a three point lead over Migala and the close competition continued during event four.

After that it was all horvath. Although she won the final heat of event five (an event with increasing snatch weights), Migala made a costly mistake with no reps on the final 175-pound barbell and finished fourth.

  • last event of the day Thor performed a 22-calorie Echo Bike, 15 muscle-ups, and a 72-foot dumbbell walking lunge, all of which helped him earn third place overall. Horvath took second place right behind him, and Migala, who is notorious for struggling to pull, finished 10th.

Worth noting: The top time in Event 5, a repeat of the 2016 Regional Snatch Ladder, was set by Italy’s Elisa Furiano in Heat 3. Her time of 5:01.24 was 28 seconds faster than the top all-region time in 2016. It was recorded by Kara Sander of Australia (5:29.82).

Make every lift count: 5 tips to prepare your mind and body for effective training

Do you warm up mindlessly or do you intentionally prepare for your workout?

Whether it’s 15 minutes or 45 minutes, it’s great to go to the gym with a standard warm-up to prepare for the day.

Some lifters do a specific warm-up each day, while others vary it up.

  • This may include work on mono structures. These include joint-specific dynamic exercises, static stretching, foam rolling, or prehab or rehabilitation exercises.

Everyone has pain, limited mobility, stiffness, and specific injuries and needs.

This is a task that is often overlooked or rushed when reaching the barbell.

When it’s time to get on the barbell, do the following:

  • Pick one up from the rack. Do you want to load your first warm-up weight and start doing snatches or clean and jerks?

  • jump big Want to get back to working weight as quickly as possible?

  • I feel sick after the initial warm-up weight training, But do you think it will improve as you add weight and get heavier?

  • don’t start concentrating Until you reach “high weight”?

  • Finish the snatch and begin the clean and jerk What was the last weight you lost?

Then I have some advice for you. Use an empty barbell and warm-up weights to prepare your body and mind for working sets. This alone will improve your lifting skills.

This will not only help you develop consistent movement patterns, but it will also help you build the positional strength needed to maintain a high percentage of good technique.

2024 CrossFit Games Asia semi-final winners and qualifiers: Seher Kaya and Ivan Kukaltsev win

All eyes are on Turkey’s Seher Kaya and Russia’s Artur Seminov for the 2024 Asian Semi-Finals of Far East Throwdown in Busan, South Korea.

Remind me: Kaya is an athlete who has competed in the CrossFit Games twice and trains at CrossFit Oslo in Norway, finishing 23rd at last year’s Games and is arguably Asia’s top CrossFit athlete of all time. Meanwhile, Semyonov has represented Asia at the Olympics for the past two seasons.

Kaya finished in second place, three points behind South Korea’s Soon-Yeon Choi, a 2021 and 2022 CrossFit Games athlete who sat out last season with a shoulder injury. Semyonov was in fourth place, 15 points from the cut line.

But as Sunday progressed, both Kaya and Semyonov stepped up, although three games were invited on the women’s side and two on the men’s side.

result: After a fierce battle of ups and downs, Kaya overtook Choi to take the overall victory, while Semyonov steadily rose from 5th to 2nd place overall, trailing fellow Russian Ivan Kukartsev, who took 1st place. I got my third ticket.

  • Worth noting: Kukartsev is a bit of a question mark heading into the weekend. The 26-year-old topped the Asian quarterfinals leaderboard (88th in the world). However, he had never competed in the semi-finals as an individual before.

But after six events in South Korea, Kukartsev has proven himself legitimate and will join Semyonov at the 2024 CrossFit Games in Fort Worth, Texas, this summer. He will be joined by Kaya, Choi and third place Dawon Jeong. She missed out on qualifying for both the 2022 and 2023 tournaments by just one spot, but has finally earned her ticket.
