Iowans are braving the coldest caucus day on record to support their preferred Republican presidential candidate.
The Iowa caucuses are the first major campaign to determine who will win and who will struggle in the 2024 presidential primary. Check out the list of Republican candidates hoping to make headway with voters in the Hawkeye State on USA TODAY Network Monday night.

Who will remain in the Republican primary?
Republicans have six candidates left, down from the dozen or so who threw their hats in the ring. White House candidates who have declined include former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former Vice President Mike Pence, and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott.

Ryan Binkley, a Texas businessman and pastor
Mr. Binkley, 56, is the CEO, president and co-founder of the merger and acquisition conglomerate Generation Group. He is also a faith leader and co-founded and serves as pastor of Create Church in Richardson, Texas.
He announced his bid for the White House in April 2023, saying he believes he can carve a lane in the Republican primary to prioritize unity and potential bipartisanship on fiscal, immigration and health care policy. told the Des Moines Register.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis
Mr. DeSantis, 45, currently serves as the 46th governor of Florida. While in law school, DeSantis enlisted in the U.S. Navy as his JAG officer and was subsequently deployed to Iraq on active duty. Before he ran for governor, he served as a member of the House of Representatives for Florida's 6th District for three terms from 2013 to 2018.
He has bounced back from the coronavirus pandemic and entered the May 2023 presidential election as one of the most powerful Republicans in the country.
Florida's gubernatorial race has been marked by culture war battles and a confrontation with Trump, once one of his biggest allies.

Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley
Haley, 51, began her political career in the South Carolina General Assembly, where she served for six years before running a successful gubernatorial campaign in 2010. In 2016, President Trump nominated Haley to be the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, a post she assumed. She served for one year until 2018 when she abruptly resigned.
She announced her candidacy for president in February 2023, citing her track record of economic growth as governor and her deep knowledge of world affairs gained from her time as ambassador to the United Nations.

former state of arkansas governor Governor Asa Hutchinson
Hutchinson, 73, was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1997 in Arkansas' 3rd Congressional District. He served until his appointment as Director of the Drug Enforcement Administration in 2001, when he was appointed Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security by former President George W. Bush administration. After he left Washington, he was elected the 46th governor of Arkansas. He served two terms from 2015 to 2023.
When Mr. Hutchinson launched his campaign in April 2023, he cited border security and the economy as major focuses of his campaign.

Ramaswamy is a former biotech investor who founded the pharmaceutical research company Roivant Sciences in 2014. He stepped down as CEO in 2021 after making his opposition to ESG more public and “shaking up” corporate sector politics.he moved on to his next discovery strike asset managementbefore stepping down to devote time to his candidacy in 2024.
Ramaswamy, 38, will run in the February 2023 presidential election. He is the author of several books, including “Woke, Inc.: Inside Corporate America's Social Justice Scam.” The Ohio resident began his White House bid by criticizing what he called a “national identity crisis” and touting instead “faith, patriotism and hard work.”

There has never been a presidential candidate like Donald Trump, 77.
Before 2016, Trump often dabbled in politics and downplayed issues such as the birth movement. However, he is still primarily known for his forays into real estate and reality television, including his famous starring role on 'The Apprentice.' Trump won the White House in 2016 and served a full four-year term before losing re-election to Biden.
Trump, who has announced that he will seek re-election in November 2022, could become the first former president since Grover Cleveland to retake the White House.
He is already the first major candidate to face the possibility of four criminal trials during an election year. Throughout his campaign, Trump has proposed replacing civil servants with political allies and giving the president more power over hiring and firing government workers.
