Check your medicine cabinet for any unnecessary or unused medicines. There are eight drop-off locations in Denver on Saturday, April 27th.
DENVER — denver police department (DPD) will be holding an event this weekend to collect unwanted and unused medications.
Anyone can drop off their medication at one of eight locations on Saturday. National Prescription Drug Take-Back Dayfrom 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
DPD said the purpose of the event is to dispose of prescription drugs in an environmentally safe manner and reduce the potential for drug misuse and abuse.
Colorado recorded more than 1,957 overdose-related deaths in the 12 months ending in November 2023, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. DPD said research has shown that most abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, often from home medicine cabinets.
Denver Police Drop Off Location
- District 1 — 1311 West 46th Avenue
- District 2 — 3921 Holly Street
- District 3 — 1625 South University Boulevard
- District 4 — 2100 South Clay Street
- District 5 — 4685 Peoria Street
- District 6 — 1566 Washington Street
Additional drop-off locations:
- Rose Central Park ER – 4930 Wabash Street
- King Soopers – 2810 Quebec Street
These drop-off locations cannot accept liquids (including IV fluids), syringes, other sharps, and illegal drugs. DEA will continue to accept e-cigarette devices and cartridges at drop-off locations as long as the lithium batteries are removed.
During the last drug recovery event in October 2023, DPD recovered 296 pounds of unwanted medications.
