NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Tennesseans are stressed and a new report proves it.
according to Wallet HubHigh inflation, soaring murder rates and family stress are just some of the reasons residents are feeling stressed.
The personal finance company recently compared 182 cities across the U.S. to determine which cities have the highest and lowest levels of stress for their residents. Stress levels were measured across four main factors: 1) work stress, 2) money stress, 3) family stress, and 4) health and safety stress.
In fact, the report found that people living in Memphis may be more stressed than others, with WalletHub ranking Memphis the fourth most stressful city in the nation.
The primary stressor for Memphis residents is financial, according to the report. WalletHub said median household income, the percentage of households behind on payments and foreclosure rates were just some of the metrics considered when determining financial stressors.
Memphis isn’t the only stressed city in the Volunteer State: across Tennessee, four metro areas made the list: Knoxville at 57th, Chattanooga at 91st, and Nashville at 101st.
Of all the Tennessee cities on the list, Nashville had the highest rate of work-related stress, while Chattanooga had the lowest.

Wallethub says those looking for a less stressful life should consider moving to Fremont, California; South Burlington, Vermont; or Fargo, North Dakota, which are the lowest ranked cities on the list.
