Need something quick and easy for dinner? You’re not alone. Americans are looking for quick meals that incorporate snacks, according to the latest U.S. Snack Index study conducted by Frito-Lay and Quaker.

Whole food protein sources add other nutrients to your diet that you can’t get from protein isolates. For example, eating chicken provides protein as well as vitamin B12, zinc, and iron.
It’s also not a magic solution that will help you lose fat, gain muscle, or add it to your diet in a way that other protein sources can’t.
Are protein shakes good for you?
Protein shakes are an easy and affordable source of nutrition on the go or before a workout. You can make it at home using protein powder and water, or you can buy a ready-made drink. They shouldn’t replace meals, but they can be used to fuel you on the go, experts previously told USA TODAY.
When purchasing shakes, Mohr recommends looking for ones with at least 20 grams of protein per serving (but ideally closer to 30 grams) and low amounts of added sugar.
