What Can I Do During the Medicare Open Enrollment Period?

Every October 15th through December 7th, Medicare gives you the option to change your Medicare coverage. Any changes made during this Medicare Open enrollment period will take effect on January 1 of the following year.

No need to change your coverage.But remember Review of current plan As with the options available, it will save you money in the end.

During the open registration period, you can choose to:

  • From Original Medicare (also known as Traditional Medicare) Medicare Advantage plan
  • Switching from Medicare Advantage to Original Medicare
  • Switch from one Medicare Advantage plan to another
  • register with Medicare Part D A prescription drug plan (or switch to a new Medicare Part D prescription drug plan if you were already enrolled in your original Medicare)

Depending on your state, you may be able to purchase additional insurance. medigap, during this time. For more information about your state’s Medigap enrollment rules, contact your state’s Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP).
