East Peoria – Reiki Master Wendy Jordan was meeting a client in the mountains near Santa Fe, New Mexico. Today, she works on the deck of her East Peoria home next to a waterfall that feeds into a giant koi pond.
“I made a vow many years ago that I always wanted to be in nature when doing healing work, because that’s what opens me up spiritually,” said owner Jordan. . wendy jordan healing arts. “We didn’t want to rent a small room and have a medical feel.”
Originally from Chicago, Jordan lived in Santa Fe for 13 years before moving back to Illinois in 2022 to be closer to her grandchildren. The house, located in the woods near the Germantown Hills, is what brought Jordan and her husband, Roger Ayers, a Reiki master, to the Peoria area.
“It’s like one of my little angels over there built this house.” Jiro “One day,” Jordan said, “We weren’t even looking at Peoria. I didn’t know anything about it. And I said, ‘Roger, look at this. There’s a lot of people there, with a pond and everything. Isn’t that the perfect place for Peoria? People coming to get stress relief therapy? And here we are.”
path to reiki
Jordan was working as a corporate photographer and videographer when he discovered Reiki, which is based on the Eastern idea of life energy flowing through the body. Reiki practitioners promote healing and balance simply by redistributing energy through gentle touch or by running their hands over a client’s energy centers.
“I was so fascinated by it. As photographers, we’re all about our eyes and what we see. … ‘OK, just shut everything down and close your eyes and feel with your heart and see what you can do. There was nothing like, ‘Let’s see what happens.'” Jordan said. “We all have the amazing ability to tap into things in nature without using our five senses. This is often referred to as opening our third eye.”

Jordan took her first class just for fun, but it was the beginning of a journey that would change her life. She embarked on a one-year study program. Upon returning to her home in Chicago, she began promoting her new side hustle, and she was able to move away from her corporate photography work by the early 2000s.
Currently, Jordan offers both soothing treatments and classes. Treatment fees are $95 for one hour, $130 for 90 minutes, or $240 for three one-hour sessions. Jordon also provides distance healing. A one-hour phone session is $85, three sessions are $200.
Healing near and far
“So we all know the power of prayer, and energy work is really the same way,” Jordan said of distance healing. “Even now, it’s like I’m doing it, and I can’t believe it. It’s like a miracle. You can send energy, you can send intentions, and you can change the energy field of someone who is not nearby. You can literally pick up and send healing. I’ve done the same thing with many people in surgery. …It creates a spiritual bubble around everyone in the operating room, and it creates a spiritual bubble that’s there. It’s like reaching out to beings and asking them to be with you, be it God or an angel or whoever you want to believe in, to keep the doctor focused. It’s like a surgery that goes well if you just give it the energy and get it in the right place to do it.”
Jordan’s clients from Santa Fe often request distance healing.
“I was surprised when I moved here, how many people still call me and say, ‘I can’t meet you in person, but can I try?'” Jordan said. . “They know me and I know their energy very well. And we talk on the phone a little bit. Then I might take them to meditation. … That’s what they to this amazing place and I say, “Okay, I’m going to work on you, hang up,” and they text me later that day or the next day and say, “Okay, I’m going to work on you, hang up.” So-so!” Being able to do this is a kind of blessing given to us as humans. ”
