Three years into the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) public health emergency (PHE), states across the country are changing the way physicians and other health care providers deliver care remotely. Continues to enact permanent changes to telemedicine laws. Starting in 2021, states will expand from the temporary policies implemented during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) period to the pandemic to support continued access to telehealth in a manner that meets standards of care. The focus began to shift to evaluating which policies of the era should be continued permanently. Today, telemedicine is integrated into medical practice, and patients and physicians alike overwhelmingly support telemedicine treatment.
