If you were at Dulles International Airport or Reagan Washington National Airport earlier this month, you may have been exposed to a measles case.
Virginia Department of Health officials announced Saturday that a person who contracted measles after returning from overseas travel had been at both airports in the past two days. The exposure he associates with two places and times.
- Dulles, Main Terminal International Arrivals Area, January 3, 4-8 p.m.
- Reagan Washington, Terminal A, January 4, 2:30-6:30 p.m.
Health officials are working to identify people who may have been infected, including passengers on specific flights, the ministry said in a statement.
Measles is highly contagious, but it is preventable with a vaccine. Symptoms include fever, runny nose, watery eyes, cough, and rash.
If you have not been vaccinated against measles and may have been exposed, you should be aware of potential symptoms, health officials said.
“People who have been exposed to and are at risk of developing measles should be on the lookout for symptoms until January 25, 2024. If you notice symptoms of measles, immediately stay home and isolate away from others. .Call your health care provider right away.Call ahead.'' “Before going to your health care provider's office or emergency room, tell them that you may have been exposed to measles and Please ask them to call the department.
