A sauna is typically a room heated to a high temperature (usually 150-200°F) and equipped with a bench to sit or lie on. “As per several studies, the amount of sweat lost during sauna bathing ranges from 0.6-1.0 kilograms per hour. This means that a one-hour sauna session can result in a weight loss of 0.5-1 kilogram. However, weight loss depends on factors like sauna temperature, humidity and individual sweat rate,” says MD Mugdha Tapadhya, Associate Director, Internal Medicine, Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj.
