Vigilance and Enforcement Agency (V&E) and Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH) authorities raided Ayurvedic medical shops across Andhra Pradesh and seized medicines worth Rs 6.1 million. did.
On the directions of Chief Secretary (Vigilance and Enforcement) Harish Kumar Gupta, 25 teams of Vigilance and Enforcement and Ayush Department raided Ayurvedic medical shops in 26 districts.
Harish Kumar Gupta said in a statement on November 29 that the team seized 2,599 expired medicines and Ayurvedic medicines without marketing licenses, worth a total of around Rs 61 million.
Officials said two cases were booked under Section 3(d) of the Narcotic Drugs and Magical Therapy (Offensive Advertisement) Act, 1954 in Nandyal district and one case each in Tirupati.
“Strict action will be taken against those who sell expired medicines,” the Directorate General of Vigilance and Enforcement said, adding that raids would continue.
