A new study finds that Viagra may save the lives of critically ill newborns.

A team of scientists has discovered that sildenafil (the little blue pill) could be a potential solution to help babies who suffer from a lack of oxygen and long-term problems during pregnancy.

The condition, known as neonatal encephalopathy, has long puzzled doctors, with very limited treatments available to address the problem.

But the first phase of a clinical study conducted at Montreal Children’s Hospital may have found a solution.

A paper recently published in The Journal of Paediatrics shows that the use of Viagra may help repair signs of brain damage caused by neonatal encephalopathy.

If the next stage of research shows this, it could change the lives of babies suffering from neonatal encephalopathy around the world.

Interesting results show that sildenafil is safe and a useful tool to help babies suffering from lack of air.

The findings show promising signs of efficacy, with groundbreaking research set to continue.

“Sildenafil is cheap and easy to administer,” said Dr. Pia Wintermark, the study’s senior author and top neonatologist.

“If it keeps its promise, Next A research study has the potential to change the lives of babies suffering from neonatal encephalopathy around the world. ”

Dr. Wintermark said the clinical study involved 24 newborns with moderate to severe neonatal encephalopathy.

The selected people had already undergone hypothermia therapy, but it turned out that it had no effect and they had suffered brain damage.

After this study, researchers concluded that sildenafil is safe and well absorbed by infants with brain damage due to neonatal encephalopathy.

Follow-up evaluations of babies at 30 days and 18 months showed no long-term problems or adverse events, and promising results for the future.

Most surprisingly, only 1 in 6 infants in the sildenafil group developed cerebral palsy, compared to 3 in 3 infants in the placebo group.

Two of the six children who received the drug also had gross developmental and fine motor delays, while all children in the placebo group suffered from them.

And after just 30 days, five of the newborns who received sildenafil showed partial healing of their lesions, fewer signs of brain volume loss, and an increase in deep gray matter.

The overall placebo group did not show the same results.

Dr. Wintermark continued, “Currently, if a baby has a brain injury, there is little we can offer other than supportive care, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, and specialized care.

“A drug that can repair the brain could change the future of these babies.”

“It will be a win for them, their families and society as a whole.”
