USPS Summarizes Upcoming Health-Care Plan’s Impact on Employees, Retirees

Below is a USPS fact sheet on the impact on current employees and retirees of the Postal Service Health Benefit Program, which will replace FEHB from calendar year 2025.


Fact sheet for employees

The Postal Services Reform Act of 2022 (PSRA) was signed into law in April 2022. Since then, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has worked with the Postal Service to develop the new Postal Service Health Benefits (PSHB) program required under new legislation. PSHB is a new and separate program within the Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) program, administered by OPM. PSHB program coverage will take effect from 1 January 2025. Below is a list of facts about his PSHB program for active employees.

The Social Security Administration (SSA) will mail you a notice if you are eligible to enroll in Medicare Part B during the initial enrollment period. The initial registration period is from 3 months before her 65th birthday to 3 months after her 65th birthday. If you are her primary PSHB beneficiary and you want covered family members to remain covered by her PSHB coverage, also enroll in Medicare Part B when you are eligible for Medicare Part A is needed.
