Henrietta, NY UR Medicine opens a new orthopedic surgery center in the Marketplace Mall in Henrietta.
This is the first in our area and one of the largest orthopedic campuses in the country. It is the size of 14 soccer fields.
The price tag was around $130 million. The old Sears in the Marketplace Mall has been transformed into a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to helping people. The Orthopedic Center has eight operating rooms, three procedure rooms, and an imaging center capable of acquiring MRI, CT, and X-rays. They offer outpatient care for up to 23 hours.
Dr. Paul Rubery, URMC’s Chief of Orthopedic Surgery, said the location is accessible to many people, with highways and a central bus station nearby. Coming in the fall is a physical therapy space featuring his two therapy pools with wave resistance and underwater treadmills.
Rubery said he is excited about the opening of the facility. The production took seven years.
“This is for patients with mobility problems, for those with bone and joint problems, and for the variety of new treatments we have to help people become more active and feel less pain. It is 330,000 square feet dedicated.
The Orthopedic Surgery Center will open to patients on Monday, February 20. A patient tower with 140 labs will also be completed later this year.
