UBC Okanagan researchers will host another Diabetes Dialogue Night, following a hugely popular event earlier this year aimed at providing the community with reliable information about diabetes.
May 21 at Trinity Church in Kelowna, UBCO’s top talent will be speaking about exercise and type 2 diabetes and taking questions.
“Our first Diabetes Dialogue Night in March received a lot of interest from the Kelowna community and was well attended,” said Jonathan Little, professor in the UBC Okanagan School of Health and Exercise Sciences. Told.
“Many people have asked questions about exercise and physical activity for people living with type 2 diabetes, so we’re excited to host our second event focused on exercise.”
An estimated two million Canadians have diabetes or pre-diabetes, and social media is full of myths and misinformation. The Diabetes Dialogue event was launched to help Kelowna residents break through the confusion.
“We want people living with diabetes to get information from experts,” Little said.
Dr. Alexis Marcotte Chenard is tonight’s guest host. He has supervised thousands of exercise sessions for people living with type 2 diabetes throughout his research career focused on the cardiovascular health of people living with type 2 diabetes.
“We’ll give you some tips, bust some myths, and give you some practical advice you can take home and use as you work to be more proactive with your life.” said Little.
The event on May 21st is free, but Registration required.
