Little Rock, Arkansas – UAMS has a 24/7 phone line and provides mental health services to people in Arkansas who tend to get a lot of calls during the holiday season.
AR ConnectNow is a treatment program offered by UAMS to anyone struggling with mental health.
UAMS Mental Health Specialist Isis Pettway explained how easy the help line was to use.
“You don’t need insurance. If you have a device, tablet, or phone that can access video, we can see you and provide treatment services,” said Pettway.
Representatives for AR ConnectNow and UAMS said they were experiencing a high number of calls during this time.
It not only addresses seasonal affective disorder, but also various mental health issues such as stress, anxiety, and overall depression.
Heather Isom, a woman in central Arkansas who has battled depression for many years, shared how important it is to talk to people when you’re depressed.
“Depression is very real. Call someone and talk to them,” Isom said. “When I have children and I’m not with their father or mother, I’m alone at Christmas.
AR ConnectNow is a resource not just for Christmas, but for any other day struggling with mental health.
