Try these 5 Indian superfoods instead of international superfoods

Tired of spending triple your money on international superfoods? Try these Indian superfoods that are not only pocket-friendly, but healthy too.

The term ‘superfood’ has been making headlines on social media for the past decade, but what does it mean? Foods (e.g. salmon, broccoli, blueberries) that are rich in compounds (antioxidants, fiber, fatty acids, etc.) They can be a great addition to your healthy diet, but due to the viral speed with which information is shared, it can be a little difficult to follow up on which superfoods to include. One thing is that fancy superfoods may burn a hole in your pocket or may not be available in India.

If you’ve had to struggle with that too, don’t worry, dietitian Reema Mahajan recently shared a desi alternative to the ‘Angleji’ superfood that you can add to your diet.

Indian alternatives to international superfoods

1. Substitute jamun for blueberries

Blueberries are a great addition to your diet, but only occasionally. This is because they are expensive and not always readily available. So it can be a little stressful. Come in, Jamun! A great alternative to blueberries that is not only seasonal but also healthy. A study published in PLoS One found that jamun, dried and ground into a powder, can help control blood sugar levels. 2. Opt for amaranth instead of quinoa

4. Sub The Seeds vs Chia Seeds
