Travel Insurance for an Aruba Vacation (2023)

by Universalwellnesssystems

You do not need travel insurance to visit Aruba. However, the government strongly recommends it.

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Aruba offers visitors Aruba Visitor Insurance. After July 2022, coverage is no longer mandatory.

However, purchasing Aruba Visitor Insurance is an affordable way to secure COVID-19 coverage for your trip. These policies cover all hospital and intensive care unit costs up to the $75,000 policy limit. Sub-limits include up to $350 for specialized transportation, $500 for doctor visits, $75 for COVID-19 testing, and up to $125 per day for 5-day quarantine costs. Alternatively, you can purchase a more robust policy through a third-party travel insurance company that includes COVID coverage.

When purchasing a travel insurance plan, research the type of coverage you need to find out what you already have. Many credit card companies offer free insurance when you use your credit card to book transportation or accommodation. You may also have relevant insurance through your home insurance, renter insurance, auto insurance, or health insurance plan.

cancel for any reason

cancel coverage for any reason (CFAR) allows you to delay or cancel your trip without worrying about how to get back any deposits or payments you’ve already made.

It has one important advantage when compared to standard trip cancellation coverage. That is, you can cancel without providing a reason. You can cancel because of the forecast for rain, a new job, or simply because you changed your mind.

CFAR can be added to most travel insurance purchased within 2-3 weeks of making your initial travel deposit. Please note that CFAR does not cover full travel expenses and may only be available for certain time slots.

Many companies only refund 75% of non-refundable prepaid deposits. Also, you may need to cancel at least 48 hours before departure to take advantage of CFAR coverage.

gear theft protection

Gear Theft Insurance covers the cost of repairing or replacing your belongings if they are stolen, lost or damaged during your trip.

This coverage is called differently by different companies, but it can be added to most travel insurance plans. Instead of “stolen gear,” you might be referring to “lost baggage and personal effects.” In any case, this range usually includes overall limits and per-item limits. More expensive items may have special restrictions.

It is especially important to purchase anti-theft protection for your gear if you plan to bring electronics and equipment such as laptops, cameras or scuba gear to Aruba. However, you may want to make sure your policy covers the rest as well. Lost, delayed, or stolen luggage can cause a lot of disruption to your trip, even if it’s not particularly valuable.

Medical Emergency Insurance and Emergency Medical Evacuation

Almost all travel insurance plans include emergency medical insurance and emergency medical evacuation coverage. In fact, these two coverages are one of the main points of comparison for any travel insurance policy. Different policies have different scope limits. When deciding which coverage to purchase, consider what you plan to do with Aruba and how risky those activities are.

Also known as travel medical insurance, it is emergency medical insurance that covers medical expenses incurred in the event of illness or injury while traveling. This medical insurance can help pay for costs associated with diagnosis and treatment, such as x-rays and hospital bills. As a general disclaimer, most policies do not cover pre-existing conditions unless a special exemption is purchased.

Medical Evacuation Cover, on the other hand, helps arrange transportation to the nearest hospital in the event of a medical emergency. We will also cover the cost of repatriation if the treating physician determines that return to the United States is necessary. Ambulance or special vehicle.

car rental compensation

There are two forms of car rental coverage. The first is liability insurance, which may be included in the rental price. This covers property damage or injury you inflict on others while driving your vehicle. The second is collision damage exemption. By purchasing this coverage, you agree that the car rental company will not be held responsible for any damage caused to your vehicle.

Instead of purchasing insurance through a car rental company, many travel insurance policies include some form of car rental coverage. If not, we may be able to add this coverage for an additional fee. You may also be eligible for free compensation through your credit card company. Please note that most US auto insurance companies limit their coverage to the US, Canada, and Mexico. This means that existing policies will likely not apply while at Aruba.

Note: If you don’t plan to travel far from your resort or hotel, you may not need to rent a car in Aruba. However, there are several car rental companies on the island. You can also rent an all-terrain vehicle to explore more rugged areas.

travel cancellation insurance

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, most travel insurance plans now include: travel cancellation insuranceThis insurance covers non-refundable travel expenses (such as a prepaid security deposit) in the event that your Aruba vacation needs to be canceled due to unforeseen circumstances.

Please note that Trip Cancellation Insurance only applies if you cancel for specific reasons. The list of covered reasons may vary slightly from company to company, but generally includes natural disasters, death of family members, unforeseen legal obligations, and serious illness or injury. Basically, the reason for cancellation should be unpredictable and out of your control.

Many policies now list a diagnosis of COVID-19 as a reason for coverage. Doctor-ordered quarantine or sick family members who need your care may also be covered.
