A renowned trauma surgeon will take his talents from medicine to music this holiday season.
Dr. James Gadzik of Westport has dedicated his life to the field of acute care and trauma surgery.
A Yale graduate, he worked for decades as a trauma surgeon at Norwalk Hospital, often dealing with the aftermath of everything from shootings to stabbings to domestic violence.
What people may not know about Gadzik is that he wrote a piece called “Magic — A Ballroom Musical,” with professional singers and dancers prepping for his debut show at Norwalk’s Wall Street Theater. That’s it.
Gadzik finds himself in a happy place surrounded by his music-making creative team. It’s what he calls a safe space, a special universe, where the stresses of trauma surgery seem millions of miles away.
The light-hearted production is perfect for families this holiday season, but Gadzik notes an underlying theme of domestic violence.
For one of the cast members, it has a very special meaning as it says she is a victim and can heal her.
Gadzik says it’s been a dream since he was at Yale to use his talents to bring peace and joy to others by making people happy this holiday season.
