Tracy Cortez I’m putting myself first before resuming my UFC career.
On Monday, the rapidly rising flyweight (currently 4-0 in the UFC) said she Amanda Rivas and UFC Orlando December 3rd.withdrawal is officially declared to be due to a medical problembut neither Cortez nor the UFC offered any further clarification on the matter.
Cortez addressed the situation on Instagram through posts and Instagram Stories.
“I know I’ve been a little MIA here on social media after the fight,” Cortez wrote in the caption. Physically, I am in a place that I have just experienced in my life.
“I just want to say that I haven’t been in the proper headspace since sometime in August. Life has tested me in the most unexpected situations. I am currently undergoing treatment, prioritizing my mental health and living one day at a time.”
Cortez will make one UFC appearance in 2022, Melissa Gut This May’s unanimous decision maintained his undefeated UFC record and 10 consecutive wins overall.
She didn’t provide a timetable for a potential return. I never gave up. I’m a fighter i am a warrior I’ve been fighting battles and life for as long as I can remember, but this is another stage in life where I win. I won’t wait for the storm to pass. Raise your head high and go through. “
Later, in an Instagram Stories series, Cortez added, “I was very down camp,” and being forced to withdraw from UFC Orlando “broke me.”
The 29-year-old reiterated that for now she is focusing on taking care of herself, especially her mental health.
“We do everything we can and leave everything behind. We leave every ounce of ours in every session,” Cortez said. “Training camp feels like a burden to me. I think every fighter can reach a certain level mentally, physically and mentally.It takes a toll on us. I gave it all I had, but because I didn’t fight, I got a little lost.
“But I’m fine. I’m keeping myself healthy and prioritizing my mental state, my state of mind, and my mental health.”
