Top fitness pros Tracy Anderson and Megan Roop have settled part of their ongoing legal battle.
Anderson, who has coached Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, and Jennifer Lopez, filed a lawsuit in 2022 against a group company whose clients include model Miranda Kerr, alleging copyright infringement, breach of contract, and false advertising. filed a lawsuit.
Now, Page Six hears that the adversaries have agreed to a confidential settlement over breach of contract claims.
But fitness pioneer Anderson isn’t ready to throw in the towel just yet.
We hear she will continue to file lawsuits to protect her copyrighted choreography.
Anderson’s attorney, Gina Durham of DLA Piper, told Page Six in a statement: “Tracy and our team have reached a resolution and agreement regarding the contract claims with Megan Ropp through undisclosed settlement terms. I’m satisfied with that.”
The attorney added, “We remain committed to this goal of realizing the full intent of copyright protection through the appellate courts.”
Roop’s attorney, Nathaniel Buck of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, said, “Following Megan’s victories in the Tracy copyright case, the Lanham Act case, and the unfair competition case, the parties have entered into a confidential agreement. We have resolved the remaining contract litigation based on this.” All that remains in this case is that Ms. Anderson is permitted to appeal the court’s decision dismissing her copyright infringement claims, and we will defend this victory on appeal. I’m looking forward to that. ”
In June of this year, a court dismissed the copyright infringement claim.
Back in September 2023, California Judge Philip S. Gutierrez granted Mr. Loop’s motion to dismiss the false advertising claims and ordered Mr. Anderson to pay approximately $164,000 in legal fees.
