Toronto’s state-of-the-art fitness studio is closing after months of hardships in lockdown.
9Round is a global fitness chain renowned for its instructor-led, full-body circuit training workouts. Members spend three minutes at a time at nine training stations, performing exercises ranging from kickboxing to lifting weights for him.
of 9 rounds Inn The Beaches, located at 1866 Queen Street, confirmed to blogTO that the studio will officially close at the end of this month.
Hugh Croft Levesque, franchise owner and operator, said 9Round’s stores never fully recovered from the lockdowns and forced closures.
“We opened in September 2017 and by early March 2020 had a very healthy membership ensuring continued success, but then had to close for nearly 500 days. said Croft-Levesque.
“For some reason, since we were ‘allowed’ to reopen in mid-July 2021, we have not been able to grow our membership to the level needed to be cash flow positive,” he told blogTO.
Despite the difficulties at the easternmost location, Croft-Levesque said another location he owns at 777 Bay Street continues to thrive.
“We had to make the difficult decision to close down after being out of funding for over 18 months due to something changing in our beach community’s customs,” he explained.
Croft-Levesque said it has been an honor to serve the Beaches community for the past five years.
“I’m really sad that it had to end like this,” he told blogTO.
Last business day for Queen Street 9 Rounds is 31 January 2023.
