eat well: Can you tell us more about your partnership with Ferry-Morse?

younger: I love working with fresh ingredients. Using fresh ingredients makes the dishes feel more upscale, and you can really taste the difference. That’s why we’re so excited to partner with Ferry Morse and help them launch their huge new collection. Because vegetables grow twice as big as their normal size, so you can get more out of them. There are many ingredients that can be used in other dishes.

eat well: What is your favorite vegetable and how do you often prepare it?

younger: I think my favorite vegetables vary depending on the season, but since it’s spring, I choose cucumbers because they can be used in a variety of ways. It’s so fresh and delicious added to dips or pickled on top of sandwiches.

eat well: Do you have an easy dinner that you love to make because you always have all the ingredients on hand?

younger: I call it a “lazy dinner.” It’s basically stuffed with chicken with whatever you have on hand. I like to pack it with fresh ingredients like spinach, broccoli, and garlic. I love broccoli, so you could also add your favorite cheese or fresh herbs. Cut the chicken open, stuff it, put it in the oven, and that’s it.

eat well: What is your favorite herb?

younger: The herb I use most often is basil. I feel like basil goes with everything, I love pasta, and I love Italian food.

eat well: Are there any foods that you always make from scratch instead of buying them?

younger: I love making ricotta and bread from scratch. I make a lot of things from scratch, but those are the main things I like to make because you can really taste the difference between something you buy in the store and something you make at home.

eat well: What does your usual breakfast look like?

younger: I love making fresh juices. My favorite juice these days is pineapple, carrot, and apple with a little mint and lemon. I like to make a juice and then make French toast, pancakes, or waffles and serve with fresh fruit to start my day.

eat well: Do you have hot food?

younger: I really hate olives. When I have olives in a dish I eat, I can easily taste them and ruin the dish. And I hate white pepper. I don’t like using white pepper in anything.

eat well: What is an underrated ingredient that you love?

younger: I think so because using sesame oil in baking gives it a nuttier flavor and enhances the vanilla flavor. I want more people to know about that. I love adding a little sesame oil (maybe 1/8 teaspoon) to chocolate chip cookies or banana bread.

eat well: What does “eating well” mean to you?

younger: When I think of eating well, I think of eating fresh produce and fresh meat, getting food at the local farmers market, or growing a garden. For me, that’s what eating well means, at the end of the day, eating what makes you happy.
