If you find yourself feeling mentally drained after visiting your local Walmart, you’re probably not alone. Shopping at a megastore can exhaust even the most eager extroverts before they get to the checkout line. And there may actually be a scientific explanation for why.
According to @Jonastsy, a TikTok user and occasional Walmart visitor, “My mental health will be the strongest I’ve ever been in my life away from Walmart,” Jonasty explained last year. Walmart’s Mental Health Theory In a three-minute TikTok video, he describes megastores as depressing “low-vibration places.”
He went on to describe how he always leaves the store depressed and suggested the company needed to be “sage”, referring to the herb-burning cleansing ritual practiced by some Native Americans. .
“Walmart has a lot of bad vibration…low vibration,” he said.
Fellow TikToker Malik Ali agrees with Jonasti.in his own situation videoAli says Walmart is a source of “thought pollution,” the negative cycle of overthinking that erodes people’s peace of mind. While Ali gives some positive examples of groupthink and group energy, he argues that Walmart shoppers may contribute to negative kinds of groupthink that contribute to thought pollution. .
Ali’s video has been viewed 43,200 times in the first week since its release.
“Your frequency is going down,” says Ali, explaining why customers leave the store in a negative state of mind.
While these theories may seem a bit esoteric, there is some science that supports the idea of vibrational energy.

according to healthline.com, some experts in the field of energy medicine believe that the human body produces “nano-vibrations” that affect the human environment. Through these vibrations, positive or negative thoughts “can ripple outward and affect our mental state and physical health.”
So if you feel upset or annoyed after running errands at your local megastore, don’t worry too much. Ali says near the end of the video: It’s not personal. ”
