Located at 1300 Government Street, Trap Haus sells cold-pressed juices, additive-free smoothie bowls, plant-based dishes and fresh produce. Half of the store builds your own smoothie bar. Here, customers can choose an in-house made base and fresh toppings to create custom smoothie bowls. The other half of the storefront includes a small produce grocery store selling fresh fruits and vegetables. Collins plans to accept snap benefits as a form of payment to expand healthy food access for locals in the Food Desert.
“If you look at the definition of a trap house, it means a home selling drugs,” Collins says. “Everything we consume is essentially a drug, whether it’s a drug that takes over the counter or a drug store. It’s a play on words, and it’s also about turning the negative into a positive.
Trap Haus was founded in 2022 on New Road. We have opened our second wellness bar at Southern University’s Recreation Center. The brick and mortar store on government streets will be Louisiana’s third location. Collins intentionally chose her store location based on limited access to fresh produce in the area.
