Over the past few weeks I’ve been having a lot of fun poking around on Kickstarter looking for great gift ideas and just generally cool stuff. The last item we posted was Gemini-powered AI glasses to compete with Ray-Ban’s Meta glasses. The next project I found is also AI-related, but as someone who coaches CrossFit on the side, I thought it would be interesting to anyone interested in fitness as well as technology.
Ake K1 is an AI-powered home gym that features real-time feedback on a huge 43-inch 4K display. A big thing I learned through coaching is that everyone moves differently, which can lead to poor movement and injury. As a coach, my top priority is to prevent that from happening. With an AI coach monitoring you in real time, K1 is designed to provide instant feedback to ensure you’re moving properly and safely.
From what I’ve gathered from reading the campaign, users can use this machine in five strength modes that can be tailored to different fitness goals, such as weight loss or muscle gain. To understand how users feel, K1 utilizes a 6-point rating to ensure users receive a challenging yet safe workout every time. This assessment checks cardiac function, body composition, muscular endurance, flexibility, posture/body alignment, and core stability. The scores are then averaged to leave a single evaluation score. The AI is then honed to deliver workouts based on your needs.
The system’s advanced tracking technology detects deviations from optimal form, such as insufficient arm extension or torso instability. AEKE K1 provides instant corrective guidance through audio or visual prompts when needed, so you’re always safe.
The above is exactly what “real” coaches like me are trained to see during class. The selling point here is that you can get the same feedback from the comfort of your home, plus you won’t have to pay monthly gym membership fees as there are no subscriptions or recurring fees after purchasing this device. . I still don’t feel like, “They took our jobs!” South Park guy, we’re definitely getting there.

AEKE K1 is Already fully funded It cost about $500,000, so the hard part is over. Mass production has already begun, with shipments indicated to be scheduled for February 2025. This is surprisingly fast. The current unit price is 1998 dollars (46% off the estimated retail price), but there’s also a $2,328 Holiday Bundle packed with all the add-ons you need.
I’ve always been interested in machines like Tonal, but they’re incredibly expensive (currently on sale for $3,000) and require a subscription ($60 per month). That’s too much. This looks like a solid alternative and a great contender, which has been needed in the home fitness space.
