by Universalwellnesssystems

Fitness myths spread like rabbits on the internet and it drives me crazy. There is an overwhelming number of self-proclaimed “experts” offering solutions to improve health, well-being, fitness, and more. Some people simply have good intentions, while others may be pushing an agenda…or they may just be pushing a new range of weight loss teas.

In any case, a large amount of information, or worse, misinformation, often leads to contradictions and confusion, which can leave you wondering who to believe and what to believe. So to cut through the noise, here are some of the most common fitness myths worth debunking.

1. You need to stretch before exercising

We are often told to stretch before training. However, the latest the study This does not reduce your risk of injury and may make you more vulnerable.

Scientists have found that stretching for long periods of time can actually lead to short-term muscle weakness. Therefore, you’re more likely to overestimate how hard you can push your body. Instead of stretching, try warming up with a few key moves to prepare your body for the workout you’re about to do. Perform exercises like knee raises, hip rotations, calf raises, squats, and lunges before activities like running or racquet sports.
