People with anxiety disorders cope with their anxiety in different ways. Some people ignore it, some use medication, and some seek talk therapy.
I’ve tried all three of these and found that a combination of the second two worked best. However, if you have an anxiety disorder, you won’t magically be cured one day.
Although I am managing my anxiety well, I still have panic attacks and anxious days. It comes with the territory. That’s why when I read that researchers had created a song that reduced anxiety by 67% in people who listened to it, I ran to grab my headphones. UK Mind Lab researchers In collaboration with Marconi Union, we sought to create songs designed to soothe and reduce stress.
The musicians worked with sound therapists to create music that can lower people’s heart rate, blood pressure, and actual cortisol (the hormone that causes stress) levels.

The neuroscientists behind the program say it’s so effective that it shouldn’t be listened to while driving. As someone with generalized anxiety disorder, I know it’s easy to feel lonely, hopeless, and fearful. One of the things I’ve realized as I’ve written more about anxiety and talked about it on social media is that it’s more common than you think, especially among Gen Y people. Why is this anxiety so common among me, and my peers? The answer is actually a little surprising.
Researcher and author Rachel Dove More than half of all female college students report feeling anxious, and when investigating why, they found the following: Psychologists suggest that the rise of technology, overly protective parenting, and ‘exam factory’ schooling are among the causes of our generational anxiety. . The other thing, which was brought up again and again by my colleagues and the psychologists I spoke to, is the luxury (and at the risk of sounding ungrateful) having too many options. ”
It may sound silly, but it makes a lot of sense. Life is much easier when you don’t have a choice. Given so many options, it can feel very overwhelming.
Combine this with the pressure of “success”, whatever that means, and the fear of missing out on the fun perpetuated by social media, and you have the perfect storm of anxiety. You need to find the treatment that works best for you.
It doesn’t matter if your anxiety treatment is singing, medication, long walks, or talking to a therapist for an hour or two each week.
Do what it takes to feel as great as possible. Because you are amazing. Just because your brain goes crazy sometimes doesn’t make you any less of a person or any less intelligent.
