Q.question: My son is now in his 50s and suffers from motion sickness all the time. He was taking dramamine to go to a business meeting, but upon arrival he became ill and unable to function.
I am currently taking scopolamine. Both times he’s tried it, he hasn’t gotten sick and has attended events without issue. But the next day he remembered nothing of them. The entire previous day is lost.
I think this is scary. Have you heard of other people having experiences like this? Could it lead to long-term memory problems? He has tried many remedies, but nothing else has solved his motion sickness.
answer: Scopolamine is a compound found in certain poisonous plants such as belladonna, angel’s trumpet, and Jimson weed. This helps prevent motion sickness. This is a trait that the Allies used during World War II to cross the rough English Channel during the Normandy invasion. It is still prescribed as a patch behind the ear as a shovel for Transderm.

Quitting duloxetine can be difficult. The Food and Drug Administration lists symptoms of withdrawal including dizziness, headache, nausea, diarrhea, irritability, vomiting, insomnia and anxiety. It suggests “tapering the dosage” but does not offer real guidance.
