New Delhi, February 17, 2025 – The one-day national seminar titled “Language Relationship between Unani Medicine and Urdu” was conducted by the All-Indian Uranitibi Conference held at the Committee Room of Nehru Guesthouse, Jamia Miriaislam. It was held.
Commenting on the president’s speech in the first session, Professor Akhtarol Wasey said that Unani Medicine and Urdu share an ancient relationship. It’s not just a way of treatment, it’s also a cultural attitude. Chief Professor Khalid Mahmood emphasized that many vivid traces of this relationship can be found in Urdu, particularly in poetry. Professor Ahmed Mahfooz, director of the Urdu language department at Jamia Millia Islamia, said classic Urdu literature frequently refers to Unani Medicine, and within it multiple cases of adaptation and benefits can be observed.
The purpose of the seminar
The seminar aims to highlight the historical and linguistic connections between Unani Medicine and Urdu Language, strengthen the academic tradition and explore the possibilities of promotion through Urdu. The speakers highlighted the Arabic, Persian and Urdu traditions of Unai medicine, and emphasized that Urdu plays an important role in ensuring Unai medicine has access to the masses.
Dr Khalid Siddiki, General Secretary of the All India Unityii Conference and Convener of the seminar, welcomed all participants and representatives with a warm welcome. Hakim Fakhr Alam explained in detail the purpose of the seminar.
Sessions and Discussions
Various sessions of the seminar featured historical texts in Unani medicine, medical literature in Urdu, and research papers on contemporary academic and research importance. The speakers have encouraged further systematic organization and digitisation of Urdu classical and contemporary Unani medical literature, allowing future generations to benefit from this valuable knowledge. Dr. Shahnawaz Fayyaz moderated the first session.

Conclusion
