CADILLAC — A mental health symposium at Baker College of Cadillac scheduled for Thursday was postponed due to winter storms that hit the state Wednesday.
The announcement was made Wednesday afternoon via email by Caitlin Richard, Professional Development Chair of the Human Services Leadership Council.
An email was sent to all registered attendees after the Council’s Professional Development Committee met with the five panelists and the decision to postpone was made.
As a result of that decision, the symposium has been moved to Thursday, March 16th. Same hours, 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., location remains at Baker College of Cadlux Student Center, 9600 E. 13th St. .
The email stated that about 60 attendees were scheduled prior to the cancellation.
The idea behind the upcoming event is that the Leadership Council will offer programs not only to its members, but also to community members to spread awareness of what is happening with mental health at various institutions and non-profits. is to make it possible.
The event is open to the public but focuses on members of the community working and serving people, educators, employers, counselors and volunteers.
Five panelists will speak at the event. Nichole Richardson, Cadillac Innovation High School Counselor, Stacey Kaminski, Northern Lakes Community Mental Health Operations Manager for Crisis Services, Rick Doehring, Wexford County Deputy Sheriff, Rachel Reinink, Love, INC of Wexford and Osceola County Rexair Executive Director and Kari Wineland, Human Resources Manager at LLC.
The two hour symposium will be divided into two parts.
First, each panelist will have time to speak and answer questions from the audience. Some questions have already been submitted as part of the registration process, but you will have the opportunity to ask additional questions during the symposium.
From there, the symposium transitions into a roundtable discussion where panelists sit at various tables to discuss different options, service gaps, and ways to improve the health and wellness of the community from a mental health perspective.
This event is free for HLSC members and $15 for non-members. Pre-registration is preferred but not required. Walk-ins are also welcome.
