Stay hydrated this summer with these refreshing foods

As the heat of summer approaches, it’s important to prioritize hydration and not just water.

Electrolytes play an important role, especially when spending time in the sun.

These minerals are found in sports drinks, supplements and certain foods and help you stay hydrated and replenish the fluids lost through sweat.

On the other hand, fruits and vegetables are great for hydrating your body, such as watermelon, cucumber, and pumpkin.

watermelon:

For example, watermelon is a classic summer fruit that is 92% water and contains essential nutrients such as vitamins A and C.

cucumber:

Cucumbers have a water content of 95% and are rich in vitamin K, magnesium and potassium. They are versatile and can be added to a variety of dishes or eaten on their own.

Crush:

One of the best hydrating vegetables, pumpkin is great in soups, stir-fries, salads, etc. With a water content of 94%, it’s rich in vitamin C, potassium, and dietary fiber.

strawberry:

Strawberries are 91% water and are packed with antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, including vitamin C and manganese.

Lettuce and leafy greens:

Lettuce and leafy greens, which are high in water content, provide essential nutrients such as folate, fiber, and vitamins K and A, making them ideal for salads.

Citrus Fruits:

Citrus fruits like oranges, grapefruit and limes are not only great for hydration, with a water content of around 80%, but they’re also rich in vitamin C and dietary fiber, which support the immune system.

Everyone’s hydration needs vary, so pay attention to your thirst and the color of your urine.

Additionally, while pale yellow urine indicates adequate hydration, be aware of certain factors that can affect urine color, such as urinating first thing in the morning or taking vitamin B supplements.
