STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Governor Kathy Hochul recently announced that $10 million in state funding could be used to create a pair of statewide networks where youth and families can access health information, support and services for behavioral problems. Announced.
“New Yorkers who suffer from mental illness need a responsive care system that is tailored to their needs,” Hochul said.
Administered by the New York State Department of Mental Health, this fund will help establish two separate networks, including one to support young people and one to support families.
“These statewide networks provide youth, parents, caregivers, and peer advocates with the resources, expertise, and support they need to address their behavioral health concerns.” the governor said.
Each statewide network will receive $5 million in funding over five years to facilitate networking, advancement support, and a workforce pipeline of peer advocates.
