Bukit Canberra’s new ActiveSG gym has HUR machines that use air pressure instead of weights
Fitness enthusiasts in the North now have a cavernous training facility to call their own.
Singapore’s largest ActiveSG gym has opened in Canberra, offering residents even more opportunities to take part in an active lifestyle.
Like other ActiveSG gyms in Singapore, seniors aged 65 and above can access for free.
Bukit Canberra’s new ActiveSG gym opens on October 29th
In a media release sent to MS NewsSport Singapore (SportSG) announced that the ActiveSG gym in Bukit Canberra opened to the public on the 20th. Sunday (October 29th).
This completes the new ActiveSG Sports Center @ Bukit Canberra, built on a plan to provide more innovative, accessible, inclusive and relevant sports facilities for all Singaporeans.
The opening of the gym follows the opening of Bukit Canberra’s four swimming pools on October 15.

With an expansive 1,500 square meters (sq m) of floor space, the ActiveSG gym has space for residents from all walks of life.

One of the ways the facility is able to do this is through the use of new HUR machines that utilize air pressure instead of traditional weights.
This means people of different abilities, including the elderly, can train safely and efficiently.
Two new dance studios open
In addition to the gym, two new dance studios have opened next door.
They offer a variety of accessible and affordable play-learning programs, including piroxing, hatha yoga, and zumba.
These programs are available for reservation next month.
Free for seniors
As a way to encourage seniors aged 65 and above to exercise, they will be able to use Bukit Canberra’s newly opened gyms, swimming pools and other facilities for free.
According to SportSG, this will in fact apply to all ActiveSG gyms and swimming pools, in support of Singapore’s move to encourage active aging.
