New Delhi:
Kunal Bahl, co-founder of Snapdeal and early venture capital firm Titan Capital, revealed on Friday that he once took protein supplements, which led to serious health problems.
Reacting to the new study in a post on the X social media platform, Barr said he was advised to take protein supplements several years ago.
“I tried a very well-known domestic brand, thinking it would be safe,” said the Snapdeal co-founder.
Within six to eight weeks, “serious health issues for me” developed.
“Thankfully my health improved once I stopped. Please be very careful,” he posted on X.

Protein powders that contain herbal and dietary supplements such as vitamins, minerals, and other natural or synthetic ingredients may be associated with liver toxicity, according to a new study published in a medical journal.
“Protein supplements are often mislabeled and their contents are deceptive. This self-funded and transparent study extensively analyzes popular protein supplements in India and analyzes their potential based on industry standards. “We have identified several hepatotoxic substances,” the study says.
The study found that many major formulations contained harmful heavy metals such as lead and arsenic, and some contained hepatotoxic herbal extracts.
