WASHINGTON, DC — U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-NH, made a speech on the Senator’s floor on Wednesday raising concerns that President Trump would “swell energy prices, threaten jobs and undermine global economic competitiveness.”

“The remarks considered what Shaheen has in common to end President Trump’s false national energy emergency, which has been used to bypass Congress to promote policies that benefit large oil at the expense of working Americans with Granite statistics,” according to a news release from her office.

“In her remarks, Shaheen shared granite statistics and small business stories that are expected to increase energy costs as a result of President Trump’s policies. You can see her statement in full here.

Another news release said on Wednesday that Shaheen led a Senate colleague to call on Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to “resciss the dramatic cuts in key health care assistance programs.”

The navigator program has helped support enrollment with historic healthcare in recent years, she said.

In addition to Shaheen, Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) led a group of colleagues to reverse dramatic funding cuts in a letter calling the secretary of U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Affordable Care Methods The Navigator program helps Americans access quality, affordable health insurance coverage, including Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance programs.

“A nearly 90% funding cut will threaten to leave millions of Americans without critical assistance to access the insurance they need, leading to a decline in healthcare enrollment,” the release said.

The Senator wrote in part: “Since its inception, navigators have become an important resource for individuals and families, especially those living in rural or underserved areas, by helping them purchase health insurance that meet their needs.”

“…Reducing these important resources will only create more barriers to individuals and families seeking coverage, and ultimately increase the number of uninsured Americans,” the letter states.
