Southern Cross Travel Insurance (SCTI) has launched an updated “Work Abroad” policy in recognition of the needs of travelers working abroad, either as Digital Nomads or as part of an Overseas Experience (OE).
This insurance automatically covers office-based jobs and some manual labor, and long-term living and working abroad, including optician care, emergency dental care, mental health care, rehabilitation and occupational therapy, and maternity care. Each SCTI Overseas Work Insurance can be purchased for a maximum period of 12 months, and travelers can purchase coverage for the next 12 months, if desired, as long as the total coverage does not exceed 60 months.
SCTI CEO Joe McCauley said: This means that nearly half (46%) of New Zealand workers are considering living and working remotely abroad to extend their travel/vacation, and one in eight (12%) are considering working remotely in the next 12 years.
