About 100 students in India have been hospitalized after finding venomous snakes in their meals.

The Indian News Agency reported that the incident happened at Amouna Middle School in Aralia district of Bihar city. Officials recalled one student raising the alarm after seeing snakes in the food eaten by hundreds of students.
Aralia District Education Officer (DEO) Rajkumar confirmed there were no casualties.

“All the schoolchildren who have eaten their midday meals have been admitted to Forbes Ganj sub-branch hospital and fortunately they are all safe,” he said.
The official said non-governmental organizations are responsible for providing meals to students. He added that an investigation has been launched and the organization’s license will be revoked if involvement is found.
Teachers said they had complained to NGOs about food quality in the past, but it went unheeded.
