The Scheurer Board has appointed Ross Ramsey, MD, President and Chief Executive Officer of Scheurer Health.
Ramsey has been a Scheurer Health practitioner since 2012 and has served as Vice President of Quality and Medical Operations for the last four years.
As President and CEO, Ramsey will stay on the main campus every day and continue to see patients at Scheurer Primary Care’s Elkton. He will assume his new role on December 1 and will work with his predecessor and outgoing President and CEO, Terry Lerash, during the transition period.
Scheurer Health’s new president and CEO, Brian Keim, said: “He is bright, innovative, and highly respected in his field. Dr. Ramsey is also a Huron County native and takes great pride in serving those around him.
“Due to the technical nature of medicine and their unique understanding of the complex systems that physicians can provide, there is a growing trend for practitioners to take on the role of chief executive officer. He has prepared himself for the role and we feel very fortunate to have him take that step with Schuler.”
A native of Harbor Beach, Ramsey graduated from Michigan State University’s School of Human Medicine and attended Michigan State University for both medical and undergraduate degrees. He currently serves as President of the MSU CHM Alumni Association and was recently honored by the School of Medicine as the Family Medicine Community Faculty of the Year.
“I am thrilled to be the president and CEO of a leading healthcare organization in the region,” Ramsey said. I understand the importance of high medical care.
“As a healthcare provider, I have witnessed first-hand the transformation of the industry over the past few years and the impact it has had on patients.
Ramsey is a Board Certified Physician Executive and a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
“After more than 30 years of continuous success, it is critical to find the right leader who can nurture and grow the existing culture for which Schuyler is renowned.” Leadership enables Scheurer Health to grow from ‘great’ to ‘better’. I have had the pleasure of working with Ross throughout his tenure here at Scheurer, as he furthers our goal of providing better health and a better life for everyone at Thumb. I’m sure you will.”
