Paul Fisher has confirmed that his tenure as gym owner has come to an end.
Fisher is an assistant professor of sport and exercise science and currently serves as the athletic development coach for ATU Donegal’s sports teams and sports scholars.
The Milford native has been a prominent presence in recent years as a fitness officer for both Donegal’s men’s and women’s backroom teams. He worked on the men’s panel with Rory Gallagher and Decan Bonner from 2015-2020, was the S&C assistant under Jim McGuinness from 2011-2024 and with the women’s alongside Maxi Curran in 2022 and 2023, as well as with Derry City FC.
Mr Fisher holds a Masters in Sport and Exercise Studies from Letterkenny Institute of Technology and a Bachelor’s in Sport and Exercise Science from Ulster University, and also holds qualifications in Strength and Conditioning, Physical Fitness and Conditioning for Sport whilst studying at Setanta College.
“After 10 years as a gym owner it’s time to move on,” he posted. “From my first location in Letterkenny to now Donegal Physio & Performance Centre I have loved every minute of it, but with increasing demand and further career opportunities elsewhere it’s now the right time to close this chapter.”
“I will truly miss the community we created. Although my time as a gym owner has come to an end, I am just as excited to see what the next chapter holds. I look forward to coaching and teaching in other environments. Thank you to everyone who has come through my doors and supported me over the past decade.”
