The latest Samsung Health app has enabled a host of new features: In the future, users will be able to scan their medications and automatically add certain data like name, strength (mg dose), and form (tablet, capsule) to Samsung Health.
Samsung has launched Medication Tracking in December 2023 to help users manage their health more comprehensively. The feature helps users track prescription and over-the-counter medications and provides tips on these medications. By entering the name of the selected medication into Samsung Health, the Medication feature will provide users with detailed information, including a general description and possible side effects.
When announcing the feature, Samsung also said that medication tracking can inform users of drug-drug interactions and possible side effects when taken with certain foods, such as caffeine or alcohol.
In the future, Samsung plans to expand this feature to inform users about medication and allergy interactions, allowing them to choose from common allergies or add their own allergies to the list.
If the user is using any medication that may cause an allergic reaction, the user will be notified in a manner similar to drug-drug interactions.
