“Now I’m glad that I have anxiety, that I had anxiety,” Reynolds continued, “because seeing my kids have anxiety, maybe it’s genetic, it shows me how to deal with it in a compassionate way, in a way that actually makes them feel understood.”
The 47-year-old actor spoke about how his own experience with anxiety now helps him deal with the signs of anxiety in his children.
“I know I can’t solve it on my own, but I can communicate all of that to them and with them, and I’m always grateful for that,” he said, adding that he’s learned how to channel his anxiety in a positive way.
“My work helps a lot,” he says. “People with anxiety are constantly thinking about the future. They’re constantly thinking, ‘What if this happens? What if that happens?’ They’re constantly telling themselves stories.”
