Certain Robitussin honey cough syrups are being recalled nationwide due to potentially deadly microbial contamination.
Consumer healthcare brand Haleon announced a voluntary recall of eight lots of Robitusin Honey CF Max Day Adult and Robitusin Honey CF Max Night Time Adult with expiration dates through 2025 and 2026. FDA announced Wednesday.
According to the FDA, “serious or life-threatening adverse events, such as fungemia and disseminated fungal infections,” can occur when immunocompromised people use the affected products.
It has been reported that life-threatening infections are unlikely to occur in healthy people. “However, we cannot completely rule out the occurrence of infectious diseases that may require medical intervention,” the statement warned.
See below for affected products and lot numbers.
To date, Haleon has not received any reports of adverse events related to this recall.
If you have an affected product, please stop using it immediately. If you have purchased a product, please contact Haleon by email at [email protected] or by phone at (800) 245-1040.
Consumers should inform their physician or health care provider if they experience any problems that may be related to the consumption or use of this product.
