The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health is working to warn consumers that they may have been exposed to hepatitis A on Panda Express in Los Angeles County.
The Department of Health announced hepatitis A was detected in a food handler who worked at a restaurant at 44411 Valley Central Way. release.
“At this time, no new cases have been confirmed,” health officials said.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health recommends that customers who have consumed food or drink at Panda Express stores between July 21 and August 4 should be vaccinated for hepatitis A.
People who have been previously vaccinated against hepatitis A or who are known to have been infected do not need the vaccine.
Vaccines may be available at local pharmacies and clinics, and Public Health plans to offer free hepatitis A vaccinations to infected individuals at the Antelope Valley Health Center at 335 East Avenue K 6 B. .
Immunizations are available Tuesday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Monday vaccinations start at 12:30pm.
“Most people have protective levels of antibodies after one dose of hepatitis A vaccine, but we recommend visiting your primary care provider to complete a second dose 6 months after the first dose. You can choose,” the health department said.
Hepatitis A is a highly contagious liver infection that can be transmitted through the fecal-oral route (when contaminated faeces from an infected person is somehow ingested by another person during close contact) or through contaminated It can be spread from person to person by eating or drinking food or drink. Most adults with acute hepatitis A have symptoms such as fever, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dark urine, and jaundice, which makes the skin and eyes yellow.
The health department said symptoms ranged from mild to severe and there is no specific antiviral treatment.
“Prompt vaccination is likely to prevent infection, but vaccination too late can lead to infection,” health officials said. “Patients who develop symptoms should call their health care provider for a hepatitis A test.”
The Department of Health will continue to monitor all known individuals who may have been in contact with a person infected with Hepatitis A at Panda Express stores.
