Boston federal attorneys announced Tuesday that a Providence man has been charged with selling oxycodone to undercover agents in Worcester on multiple occasions.
Brandon Jones, 32, has been charged with distributing oxycodone. Jones was arrested in Worcester yesterday and appeared in federal court in Worcester this morning before U.S. District Court Justice of the Peace David H. Hennessy.
In July 2022, Jones was identified as a distributor of oxycodone and cocaine in the Worcester area, according to indictment documents. Specifically, Jones is said to have driven to Worcester in a rental car each day, selling drugs throughout the area in the afternoon before returning to Providence. On three occasions, he allegedly distributed oxycodone pills to undercover agents under control.
The illegal distribution of oxycodone charges carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $1 million. Sentences are imposed by federal district court judges under the United States Sentencing Guidelines and statutes governing sentencing decisions in criminal cases.
U.S. Attorney Rachel S. Rollins. Brian D. Boyle, Drug Enforcement Administration New England Fields Special Agent and Southbridge Police Chief Shane D. Woodson made the announcement today. Valuable assistance in the investigation was provided by the Rhode Island District Attorney’s Office and the Rhode Island State Police. Assistant U.S. Attorney Greg Friedholm of Rollins’ Worcester branch is prosecuting the case.
The details contained in the billing document are claims. A defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
