Protein Powder Testing Reveals Lead and Other Heavy Metals

by Universalwellnesssystems

Nearly half of the protein powders evaluated in a recent analysis contained enough toxic heavy metals to exceed California’s Proposition 65 safety standards, one of the strictest in the country, if not the world. Experts say there is.

The study, conducted by the Clean Label Project, a nonprofit organization specializing in transparent food labeling, found that 47 percent of the 160 protein powders tested exceeded California’s strict safety standards for heavy metals such as lead and cadmium. It turned out that it was.

Heavy metals can enter food through soil and water contamination and manufacturing processes.

“There is an inseparable link between soil and waterway health, food, and public health,” Jaclyn Bowen, executive director of the Clean Label Project, said in a press release.
